Beginners Project Tuition Course

The ideal way for beginners to learn digital photography

Now is the chance to really develop your digital photography. Using my many years experience of photography, I have put together a photography course that not only teaches you the basics, but gives you the chance to progress your skills in specific areas that you want to specialise in with this project based course. Additional to this, you will have access to your own tutor who will be on hand to answer all your photography questions along the way as well as critique your work and help you progress into a confident and skilled photographer as the course progresses.

Unlike other home study courses, this one is geared towards travel and landscape photography, arguably the most popular subject for photography. I have specialised in this field for 20 years and have gained a wealth of experience through travelling the length and breadth of Britain as well as Europe, teaching myself the necessary skills and techniques required to have my work published by clients all over the world. From photography magazines to calendar publishers through to worldwide picture libraries and national newspapers like The Times, my work is widely published and has been seen by millions of people along the way.

As well as taking pictures, I also write about the subject. My work is regularly published in most of the UK’s leading photography magazines, on all manner of photographic subjects and I also write travel features for many leading magazines.

Using my experience, I have put together a course, which differs from other online tuition courses. The first five course modules will consist of lessons to teach you the basics of digital photography. These will cover the key areas every budding photographer needs to learn in order to have confidence with their camera and the necessary skills to take on any project.

The five beginning modules cover:

  • Exposure
  • Composition
  • Depth of field
  • Light
  • Filters

Once these five basic modules have been completed, you can then tailor the rest of the course with five further modules that suit the area of photography that most interests you. Why do a lesson on portraiture if you hate taking portraits? Why complete a lesson in sports photography if you want a course that concentrates on landscape. For these reasons I have put together a course that is unique to other courses on the market, featuring lessons that I have expertise in and have a genuine enthusiasm for and therefore can pass on my knowledge to you the photographer.

So, for the second half of the course, you can pick and choose five further modules that suit you, from a list of subjects including:

  • Advanced Landscapes
  • Architecture
  • Night
  • Panoramics
  • Black and White

All of these ten modules are linked to travel and landscape photography. However, if panoramics and black and white don’t interest you, fine. Not bothered about night photography? No problem. You can pick the most relevant five to suit you and complete the course learning about these. This makes the course tailored to your photography. No other photography course offers this kind of flexibility and so you only pay for subjects that interest you.

Take your photography to the next level

I am presenting this as an online photography course and therefore all correspondence and tuition will be via email. Each of the ten modules will come in the form of a PDF file, presented very much like the kind of feature you would see in a photography magazine. This makes it easy for you to read on your computer, print off or view on your i-Phone or i-Pad even. They explain in depth each technique and illustrated with my own images, which echo the text, giving visual examples of the key points. At the end of the article, will be details of an assignment based on the lesson for you to complete.

This will consist of a brief of what you understood from the lesson and then a task for you to complete based on this, which involves shooting your own examples and sending them to me for critique. I will provide positive feedback on your images and where you might be able to improve your skills. Your photographs should be low-res digital files, sent along with a Word or text document.

In addition to this, I will be on hand to answer all your questions and you may submit further work or images for critique throughout the course. To keep you focused on the course, you have 12 months to complete it, which should allow plenty of time to work through the lessons at your own pace. If you need longer however, then there is the option to extend if necessary.

You will also have free access to the Technique Guides available on the website, which cover a wide range of techniques and subjects. These are constantly being updated and added to and provide you with additional reference to learn more techniques.
