Time

I’m currently working on a project of shooting images with Time as their theme and using different ways of interpreting the theme in an image. This includes capturing waterfalls at a range of shutter speeds and doing night shots like the one below, where I photograph the same subject, from the same position, as the light changes and then make a montage of the results. It not only illustrates time very well, but shows the passing of time and how it affects the way your photographs look. In night time images, it’s a good way of showing the peak time to take the perfect night shot, when there is just the right mix of colour in the sky and illumination by artificial sources. The same montage on a waterfall shows how time influences not only the effect of water at different shutter speeds, but also the mood those shutter speeds create in the image as the water blurs. I’m thinking of new ways to illustrate the theme in my images and have already got a magazine interested in the results, so watch this space.
