Newcastle One2One Photo Workshop

Quayside

£250 (includes free eBook)

Various Saturday dates available for this one day workshop. Email me with your choice of date.

Available as the Beginners or Develop Your Style Workshop

The quayside around Newcastle and its neighbour Gateshead, provides a rich and colourful area for urban photography. With its seven bridges crossing the River Tyne, the redeveloped area is an ideal location for a photo walk, shooting abstracts during the day and wide riverscapes at dusk .

During the photo workshop we will cover a range of  techniques required for urban photography. We’ll look at the use of different lenses, creating abstracts, shooting for impact and making creative compositions.

You will learn about the various controls and settings on your camera, including choice of shutter speed and aperture, reading the histogram, changing ISO and using White Balance for creativity. As day turns to dusk, we concentrate on using the camera on a tripod and capture the quayside bridges and buildings reflected in the waters of the River Tyne.

This workshop is aimed at both the complete beginner getting to grips with their camera, as well as the enthusiast looking to up their photography game and capture creative images.

The workshop starts around 10.30am (depending on time of year) and lasts 6 hours.

You will need to bring:

 > A digital SLR. Alternatively, you can even bring a bridge camera or Compact System Camera, such as the Olympus OMD, Fuji X-series, as this will suit our shooting style for the day.

> A range of lenses from wide angle to telephoto. Any filters you have will be useful, but we have a range of Lee Filters for you to try.

> No tripod is required, as we will shoot handheld and tailor our cameras to suit this style of shooting.

> Waterproof clothing and sensible footwear.

This is a One2One photography workshop, where you will be guaranteed personal & in-depth tuition. You will also have the opportunity to try out the Lee Seven5 filter system and full range of filters. Craig promotes the filter system for Lee Filters in urban environments and therefore can show you how to get the most out of them in the city.

Highlights of the day include:

  • Tyne Bridge.
  • Sage Gateshead.
  • Millennium Bridge
  • Baltic Centre
  • High Level Bridge

Free eBook

The workshop price also includes a free copy of my eBook ‘Urban Landscapes’. This book covers many of the techniques that will be demonstrated on the Newcastle Photo Walk and therefore makes an ideal companion to the workshop.
